Considering it was the hottest (or close to it) Tuesday we have had this Summer – an outstanding showing (~50 total) AM/PM at the F&M track for workouts. Many did the ever-challenging (sometimes hateful) 1Ks with some getting to #7 or #8 in spite of the oppressive temperature of 90*… and despite it being “hot AF” – Sam, Jeremy, and a few others did a solid 4-mile progression run which I think Devon and Daniel were hanging off of but maybe not quite ready to run with the Group 1 big dogs. Chris patiently coached Courtney through a grueling workout but she reportedly hit all her splits! Welcome back to Jackie Boben who will be hanging with us in Lancaster for a few weeks before heading back to Montana and embark upon a medical journey. Many of you heard me mention the importance of strength training – see the photo above with Bill Boben and a few of his training partners. Hope most of you did at least the mandatory “Young Johnny Kelly” 25 push-ups.
Thanks to the ever-dependable Jason Smoker for supplying the water which I believe was sufficient volume-wise despite Nick dousing his head with numerous cupfuls. I think he wants to make it look like he worked hard by the time his wife Devi arrived at the track.
In spite of the July heat only 22/30 PBRs were consumed (not sure if anyone doubled) but one 19oz Sierra Nevada Atomic Torpedo was enjoyed by Jeremy – these easily counts as 2 PBRs.
For those of you who stayed up last evening, you were able to enjoy seeing Jake Wightman’s win over Jakob Ingebrigtsen – he is the first British runner to win the 1,500m in 39 years when Steve Cram took gold in 1983. This result was correctly predicted by Erica Pearson on Strava !. The 400m hurdles also produced some surprising results although the winner of this race (Alison dos Santos) was correctly predicted by U.S. legend Edwin Moses – so Erica is in good company as a race analyst.
Tonight is the Harrisburg Road Mile – we will be represented by Adam Harriger, Adam Moore, Scott Roth, and Peter Weida – I am hoping for some top-10 results from these guys.
