Remarkably, we are now almost a full week into December as another track club year winds down. In preparing for our annual holiday “WOW” next Tuesday at Reology – this will be the club’s 14th event (although in the early days there were 5 or 6 of us at my house)… CONGRATS to several of our teammates for an impressive and inspirational weekend of racing – ALL results are in today’s LNP SPORTS section – major kudos to Sam G with a club 1/2M record/PR of 1:06:18 and 25th place finish at the USATF Championship in South Carolina which was won by the recent NCAA XC champ, Conner Mantz. Sam was in elite company.
Moving up to 26.2, Georganne (2:46:10 PR/CR!), Sarah (2:56:4), and Andrew (2:58:10) had excellent races at CIM / Sacramento.
After opting out of the Rothman 8K, Jeremy decided he was tired of the long weekend runs with Scott on the Enola so went down to Rehoboth and knocked out a 2:48 for 42K (inspired by Cooper Teare!) and won the 30-34 AG.
Leah took the 5K win in Manheim and Laura B was back in town to win the ugly sweater XC race in Manheim Twp.
A reminder to please respond to the E-vite for next week’s Holiday WOW – we need a firm number this week for food, refreshments etc. We have requested Vaccinations and no children this year (my apologies to some who have asked). Also, please complete Jeremy’s club survey if you have not…this will provide us with some vision/ ideas for 2022.
Below are 2 workouts for tomorrow. With our race this weekend the “easy” Furman workout will be just the 400s. Yasso 800s for everyone else. Jay is AWAY (moving to a new AG) so he will not be at the track for our standard 6:00 PM time nor will I. However, some of us will be meeting at 8:30 AM, so feel free to join us if you can.
December 7th: 2–3-mile warm-up + drills
- 6 x 400 m with 400m jog RI
- 5-6 x 800m @ 5K pace (modified Yasso’s)
25 push-ups (strength for Andrew!); 4 x 100 strides; 1.6-mile campus cool-down.
- December 11th – USATF CLUB XC Nationals in Tallahassee, FLA (Boben, Charles, Fife, Garland, Kirchner, Lafferty, Newcomer, Mohler, Schuler, Wege) – I am anticipating national AG finishes by Walt, Tim, and Phil.
- December 14th – FMTC Holiday WOW. Short fun run is planned. Also requesting you bring 1-2 non-perishable food items for Lancaster Food Hub.
